Under general direction of the ITRC Director, the responsibilities of the Irrigation Technician include providing technical assistance to Project Directors and other engineers at ITRC. The position also assists in improving and maintaining ITRC facilities and programs.
Assists in the development of project plans and designs.
Tests and repairs irrigation equipment as required. Assists in the investigation and analysis of new materials, equipment, and irrigation projects.
Assists or prepares estimates, surveys, statistics, and designs for projects.
Compiles research data into databases and spreadsheets. Manipulates and programs the databases and spreadsheets for analysis and reports.
Analyzes costs for work projects and estimates completion schedules.
Performs equipment studies using dataloggers and electronic sensors.
Performs, under project director supervision, modeling studies with various computer programs.
Assists in maintaining and upgrading ITRC facilities and programs including construction and fabrication. Takes responsibility for maintenance of specific equipment and facilities.
Performs other duties as required.
High School degree required. Must have good time management skills, and demonstrated accurate project estimating skills; effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to work as an effective team member. Must be able to perform physical labor and work outside, as required. Must be able to travel. Must have demonstrated experience with manipulating spreadsheets. In addition, must have one year experience or demonstrated proficiency in several of the following: a. Electronics (sensors, dataloggers) b. Irrigation design and management c. Construction (steel, wood, concrete) and fabrication d. Computer equipment (networks, controllers, printers, etc.) Regular full-time attendance is required.
