Dining Plan Program

College seems to fly by so quickly. That is why Campus Dining created unique dining plans for active people. This allows more time to focus on studying, exploring personal interests, and engaging in community activities.

Benefits of Having a Dining Plan

• You never have to worry about carrying cash to dine on campus. Using the PolyCard is convenient and easy.
• Enjoy wholesome meals made fresh daily at 18 conveniently located restaurants and markets.
• There are flexible business hours to work around your schedule. At least one venue is open every day of the academic year, including late night hours and holidays.
• Take pleasure in a wide variety of healthy meals and ethnic cuisines. Vegetarian, vegan, low-fat, non-dairy, wheat/gluten-free, Mexican, Asian, and Mediterranean dishes are available at several locations.
• Use Dining Dollars or Plu$ Dollars to dine at the upscale Sage Restaurant or stock up on snacks and packaged goods at one of the markets.
• Fresh foods are brought in from local and regional producers to create recipes that are colorful and nutritious. Come taste what’s new and exciting on campus!

What are dining plans?

Campus Dining offers a variety of dining plan options to students, faculty, and staff at Cal Poly. They are designed to properly nourish people conveniently and affordably. The dining plans differ in the number of Dining Credits and amount of Plu$ Dollars. The Dining Credit component is allocated weekly and can be used at several campus restaurants, providing convenience throughout the academic year. Plu$ Dollars can be used to purchase food at any campus restaurant or market. Plu$ Dollars are allocated quarterly and can be used at any time during the contractual period.

Who can buy dining plans?

Just about anyone on campus can buy a dining plan! We have designed unique plans for the following groups:

• Freshman living in the Residence Halls and Cerro Vista (CV) Apartments
• Returning & transfer students living in Poly Canyon Village (PCV) & Cerro Vista Apartments
• All other students living off campus
• Cal Poly faculty and staff

How do I choose which plan works best for me?

Choose from one of the following links to find out which plan works best for you. There is detailed information about each dining plan including costs, payment due dates, and much more.

• 2009 Freshman Dining Plans (for freshman living in the Residence Halls or CV)
• 2009 Returning & Transfer Students Dining Programs (for non-freshman students living in PCV and CV)
• New! 5-Square Dining Plan (for faculty, staff and upper classmen)

How & when do I sign up for a dining plan?

After students are accepted into campus housing, students can sign up for a dining plan by visiting the Cal Poly Portal and clicking on the "Housing" tab. Access to the dining plan contract is available only after registration and payment of campus housing has been received and processed by the university. Sign up through the Cal Poly Portal website (www.mycalpoly.edu) starting on the following dates:

• Incoming Freshman: Cal Poly portal opens on 6/15/09
• Dining Dollars Program: Cal Poly portal opens on 6/3/09

How do I submit my payments?

You can pay for your dining plan by credit card (American Express, MasterCard, or Discover) or e-Check through your Cal Poly Portal. Visa is not accepted.

When is the first payment due for my dining plan?

The first payments for the freshman dining plans and Dining Dollar Program are:

• Freshman Dining Plan Deposit Due 7/14/09
• Returning Student Dining Dollars Program payment due 8/16/09

Can you accommodate my special dietary restrictions?

If you have dietary restrictions, food allergies, religious food beliefs (i.e. Kosher), and/or other diet concerns please contact Campus Dining to verify that we can accommodate your specific dietary needs prior to signing the Housing License for the Residence Halls.
